Land Use Planning

GVMC has established a Land Use Department which is staffed by experts in regional land use and community planning. This department is taking the lead in establishing the Blueprint planning process and is providing essential future land use elements to the Blueprint II Regional Development Framework. This department is also responsible for maintaining a Land Use Library, Population and Land Use Data Center and other ongoing initiatives for educating or assisting area planners, builders, decision-makers and the public at large. In addition to working directly with areawide regional providers such as transit, water and sewer agencies, etc., the Land Use Department will provide direct assistance to Kent County in developing planning instruments it may need in areawide programs such as park planning or Purchase of Development Rights.
