Incident ManagementTraffic Incident Management is a planned and coordinated process to detect, respond to, and remove traffic incidents and restore traffic capacity as safely and quickly, as possible. The Grand Valley Metro Council, acting on behalf of its member agencies has contracted with HNTB to conduct an Intelligent Transportation Study. This study will examine how the latest technologies and operational strategies can benefit the region. Included in this study is an incident management component. The Grand Rapids Traffic Incident Management (GRTIM) is a team with representatives from the emergency response community, private entities (tow truck operators, ambulance, environmental cleanup, media), transportation agencies, and individuals that meet on a regular basis. This team was created to assist in developing a regional incident management program that would improve the safety and efficiency of the Grand Rapids Area highway system. Currently, the team is looking into the following topics:
