Projected Future Year (2025) Deficiencies
A number of roads within the study area are projected to be above desired Levels-of-Service (LOS) in the year 2025. The Grand Valley Metropolitan Council (GVMC) provided year 2025 level-of-service projections to the Study Team, which are detailed in Appendix D.
Many projected capacity deficient roads within the study area are planned and have funding to be improved within the next 25 years. These include projects in the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for the next five years (pink), and the Long-Range Plan (LRP) for the next 25 years (blue) (Figure 3.1.1). The capacity deficient roadways with approved funding are also listed in Appendices A and B.
This study has also identified additional road segments that are projected to become capacity deficient by 2025. These segments are shown in red on Figure 3.1.2 and detailed in Appendix E. Detailed plans, the type of improvement needed, and/or funding are not currently programmed to address these projected deficiencies. These needs will have to be prioritized with others in the area, as well as statewide Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) trunkline facilities.
This study recognizes that it may not be practical to pursue improving all of these identified road segments over the next several years. Some segments have limited right-of-way available, are in fully developed areas, may be too costly to improve, or will lack community consensus to support a major project.
